Bolivar 1 – by Nikos Eggonopoulos

For the big the free the brave and the strong

they suit words big, free, brave and strong,

for them the absolute submission of every element, the silence,

for them the tears, for the lighthouses,

and the branches of olives, and the traffic lights

wherever they jump with the rocking of the boats

and write in the dark horizons of the ports

for them are the empty barrels that they cluttered in the most close street again of the port

for them the life jackets the white ropes and the chains the anchors and the pressure gauge

inside the annoying smell of the oil

so as to joint the boat, to open, to go

same with a tram that starts, empty and full of light inside the night serenity of the gardens
